 In Indiana Chapter News

Pioneer volunteers attended the Grand Opening of the new Boys & Girls Club in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Michael Cipriani, coordinated our volunteers through the AT&T Aspire program.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Fort Wayne, at Pontiac Street and Fairfield Avenue, caters to students through grade 12 and, according to its website, focuses on academic success, good character and citizenship and healthy lifestyles.

The new facility is 42,500 feet, compared with the previous building’s 26,000 feet, and it is now surrounded by a 2.3-acre campus.

Among its amenities are:

• A building trades partnership room, sponsored by Do it Best. It will involve a partnership with the Northeast Indiana Building and Construction Trades Council and its members.

• An exercise/fitness room, sponsored by Planet Fitness. The “no judgment zone” theme the business is known for will be carried into the club, along with themes such as “you belong.” In addition to exercise programs, youths will learn life skills, which includes an anti-bullying initiative.

• A performance stage, sponsored by Sweetwater Sound, Chuck and Lisa Surack.
